Hand Experiments
Stuck and Scared
Using my photocopier I wanted to play around with hand placement and editing techniques to portray horror and fear. I like the process of using a photocopier to create almost instant artwork with placement, collage, and printing, working into then rescanning the work. I decided to go back to basics with this experiment though and simply just place my hand on the copier and see what I could create using different editing styles. Here they are.
You can see that the first two edits are bitmapped in photoshop, mimicking the skull pieces I did and the experiments with dot work in pen and ink. I think the effect this gives is slightly uncomfortable and uneasy, however, I also think it achieves the desired effect of being trapped in a coffin, stuck and scared.
These two are the same scan as the two before but edited differently. I brought out the red tones using photoshop to mimic blood, the scans edited like this include a lot more detail and almost seem to mimic what state your hands would be in if you were trying to claw out of a box 6ft under (hence my naming them 'Stuck and Scared'
