Week 9 - Flowers - 12th to 16th April

Flower Collages

As the last series of collages were a representation of my own experience with death (cremation, darkness, and depression), I decided to make some playful and experimental collages using flowers to represent how I feel about burial. 

I also decided to play around with a vase I have, positioning it onto my scanner and placing flowers in and around it in a series of 3 images, I wanted to mimic falling again with this piece, and I wanted to highlight the stark contrast of the vase, flowers, and complete darkness.

Using the process of printing out a photo onto low-quality gloss like I had done with my collages i scratched and rubbed into the surface of the piece which created a smokey, surreal piece and you can really see the animated way the flowers look, and how blue the vase is in contrast to all the grey tones
