Collage Art
I focussed on the same images as my last post, and refining them, developing them into photographs and making sure I was able to use them for printing in the print workshop.
These images were created using the bitmap tool on Photoshop and then I coloured the background in black to give the piece more contrast. Overall, I think these pieces communicate how I view death, they are very high contrast, playful and unique. I wanted my pieces to show expression and emotion through the skulls, which even though they are quite literally just edited photographs, I think I managed to achieve conveying emotion. some of the skulls (to me anyway) appear to have smiles, expression and life within their representation of death
This piece was done by collaging 3 skull photos together, editing them in photoshop then printed out onto low-quality gloss to achieve the smoke like effect that I wanted to represent cremation. the image was then scanned in again, touched up as photocopies tend to lose colour and can appear grey and then printed onto high-quality gloss paper.
I also have plans to turn this design into a screenprint in week 10.
